Docs Pools legal
Terms of Service
Rules for using Docs Pools as pool-management software.
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Software-only service
Docs Pools sells software access and platform services only. Docs Pools does not collect, hold, custody, escrow, manage, determine, or distribute prize money, wagers, stakes, or winnings. Commissioners and participants are solely responsible for any prize-money arrangements outside the platform.
Commissioner responsibility
Commissioners are responsible for configuring pools, inviting participants, setting rules, handling eligibility, resolving disputes, keeping backup records, communicating any outside prize-money rules, tax handling, and complying with any laws or workplace/group rules that apply to their pool.
Forbidden uses
Do not use Docs Pools for unlawful gambling, pools involving minors where money or prizes are involved, or any arrangement where Docs Pools would be expected to hold, escrow, arbitrate, or distribute prize money.
Payments
Stripe payments to Docs Pools are software/platform fees for access to tools such as setup, share links, entry management, exports, and leaderboards. These fees are not pool buy-ins, stakes, wagers, prize-money deposits, escrow payments, or payouts, and are separate from any prize money handled outside the app.
No gambling operator role
Docs Pools is not a sportsbook, casino, lottery, gambling operator, contest sponsor, escrow agent, or prize administrator. Do not use Docs Pools where your pool would be unlawful.
Private beta limitation
Docs Pools is intended for invite-only private beta, small-group commissioner use while legal review is pending. Use only with known commissioners and known participants. Do not use Docs Pools for public paid contests, advertised prize promotions, regulated betting, sportsbook-style activity, paid ads, open public signup, or any pool where a platform operator must be licensed.
Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to act for the group or organization whose pool you configure. If any participant, employer, league, school, venue, state, or country prohibits your pool, you may not use Docs Pools for that pool.
No legal, tax, or gambling-law advice
Docs Pools provides software, not legal, tax, accounting, gambling-law, employment-policy, or compliance advice. Commissioners should consult qualified counsel before collecting money, offering prizes, advertising pools, or opening pools beyond a private group.
Suspension and removal
Docs Pools may refuse, suspend, remove, or restrict any pool or account if we believe it creates legal, payment, security, abuse, or platform-risk concerns, including suspected prize-money custody requests or unlawful gambling activity.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, commissioners agree to defend and hold Docs Pools harmless from claims, losses, fines, chargebacks, disputes, or expenses arising from their pool rules, participant eligibility, prize-money arrangements, communications, or legal compliance failures.
Service limits
Docs Pools is provided during beta without guarantees that entries, scoring, exports, leaderboards, setup links, or payment records will be uninterrupted or error-free. Commissioners should keep their own backup records for any live pool.
Beta status
Docs Pools is in private beta. Features may change, and commissioners should verify entries, scores, exports, settings, Terms, Privacy, and pool rules before relying on them for a live pool.
Terms and privacy acknowledgement
By using Docs Pools, commissioners and participants agree to the Terms of Service and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. Checkout payments are Docs Pools software/platform fees only and are never pool buy-ins, stakes, wagers, or prize-money deposits.
Plain-English beta note
This is practical startup legal copy for beta launch readiness, not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.
